Se qualcuno avesse ancora qualche dubbio su quante band e quanti musicisti sono rimasti influenzati dalla scena punk, e soprattutto, da quella post punk dei primi anni '80, questo dei canadesi di Montreal Ought è solo uno dei molti esempi "minori", laddove con minori si intenda band meno conosciute di, che ne so, Interpol o Editors, giusto per citarne un paio. Formatisi nel 2011 appunto a Montreal, Canada, intorno ad una sala prove comunale, vedono Tim Darcy alla chitarra e alla voce, Matt May alle tastiere, Ben Stidworthy al basso, e Tim Keen alla batteria e al violino, ricercano la poesia nei loro testi e melodie asimmetriche spesso difficili da "affrontare", ma che lasciano senza dubbio il segno. Questo è il loro terzo disco, dopo More than Any Other Day del 2014, Sun Coming Down del 2015, e un paio di EP (New Calm, 2012, e Once More With Feeling, 2014). Tim Darcy ha pure avuto il tempo di incidere un lavoro solista, Saturday Night, l'anno passato.
If anyone still had any doubts about how many bands and how many musicians were influenced by the punk scene, and above all, from the post-punk one of the early 80s, this Canadian band from Montreal, Ought, is just one of many "minor" examples, where with "minor" means less known bands than, for example, Interpol or Editors, just to name a couple. Formed in 2011 precisely in Montreal, Canada, around a municipal rehearsal room, they are Tim Darcy on guitar and vocals, Matt May on keyboards, Ben Stidworthy on bass, and Tim Keen on drums and violin, they research poetry in their lyrics and asymmetrical melodies often difficult to "face", but that leave without a doubt the sign.
